The topic of the paper are harmonic maps from a compact Riemannian manifold to a static Lorentzian manifold, which is a warped product \(N_0\times_\beta R\) of a compact closed Riemannian manifold \(N_0\) and the real line equipped with a negative definite metric. It is shown that if the domain is two-dimensional, then any weakly harmonic map is smooth. If the dimension \(n\) of the domain manifold is greater than two, there exists a weakly harmonic map solving the Dirichlet problem, which is smooth outside a closed singular set of zero \((n-2)\)-dimensional Hausdorff measure.
