To solve the equation \(Au=f,\;A:V\to{V^{*}}\) the authors apply the two-layer iteration process \[ J(u_{i+1}-u_{i})=\tau_{i}(f-Au_{i})\;, \] where \(u_{0}\) - is an arbitrary element of \(V\),\ \(f\in{V^{*}},\) \(\tau_{i}\) is the iteration parameter, and \(J:V\to{V^{*}}\) is the duality operator satisfying the conditions \[ <Ju,u>=\|{Ju}\|{_{v^{*}}}\|{u}\|{_{v}} . \] This iterative method is applied to the solution of boundary value problems for nonlinear degenerate elliptic equations. It is proven that the gradient \(\bigtriangledown{u_{i}}\) converges outside the degeneracy set.
