A conservative particle method for a quasilinear transport equation (Q1571256)

The paper is devoted to a particle method for the transport equation and for the system of gas-dynamic equations. Owing to some additional operations that ensure its conservativeness the algorithm constructed can be used to adequately simulate discontinuous solutions in gas dynamics. The accuracy of solutions involving steep gradients can be substantially improved. The study demonstrates that the key factor that leads to correct results is the conservative treatment of particle interactions.
