The paper is devoted to an analysis of linear stability of a model vortex flow of compressible heat-conducting gas in a channel of circular cross-section. Flows of three types are considered: a flow with a uniform axial velocity in the neighborhood of the axis, a flow with a jet profile, and a flow with a wake profile. It is shown that the linear stability of an internal vortex flow is primarily determined by the distribution of azimuthal velocity and weakly depends on the axial velocity profile.
