The paper under review is concerned with \(L^p\)-uniqueness problems for generators of \(C_0\)-semigroups of the form \(\Delta+ \beta\cdot \nabla\) on weighted \(L^p\)-spaces on \(\mathbb{R}^n\). (Here the investigations are concentrated on the situation \(n\geq 2\), for the case \(n=1\) see [\textit{A. Eberle}, ``Uniqueness and non-uniqueness of semigroups generated by singular diffusion operators'', Lecture Notes in Math. 1718, Springer-Verlag, New York/Berlin (1999; Zbl 0957.60002)]). Let \(m\) denote a positive Radon measure with full support, let \(p\geq 1\) and let \(\beta:\mathbb{R}^n \to\mathbb{R}^n\) belong locally to \(L^p (m)\). Let further \({\mathcal L}=\Delta +\beta\cdot \nabla\) be defined on \(C^\infty_0\). Under the two conditions (A1) \(\int{\mathcal L}f dm \leq\alpha\int fdm\) and (A2) there exists a decomposition \(\beta=\beta^{\text{sing}}+\beta^{\text{reg} }\), with prescribed behaviour at infinity for the singular and the regular part, the main results are: Theorem 1. For \(1\leq p\leq 1\), \(dm/dx= \rho\), under suitable local regularity conditions for \(\rho,\beta\) and \(\beta \rho^{1/2}\) the closure of \({\mathcal L}\) generates a uniquely determined \(C^0\)-semigroup on \(L^p( \mathbb{R}^n,m)\). Theorem 2. The same conclusion holds true for \(p\geq 1\), \(\beta\) locally sufficiently regular \((\beta\) locally in \(L^{(1+n/2)p+ \varepsilon}\) for some \(\varepsilon >0)\). Theorem 1 is proved by analytic methods, the proof of Theorem 2 relies on a regularity result for Sobolev spaces [\textit{V. Bogachev}, \textit{N. V. Krylov} and \textit{M. Röckner}, Ann. Sc. Norm. Super. Pisa, Cl. Sci., IV. Ser. 24, 451-461 (1997; Zbl 0901.35017)].
