Analytical solutions for mining-induced horizontal stress in floors of coal mining panels (Q1573312)

The authors derive analytical solutions concerning the mining-induced horizontal stress in the floor of a coal panel. Using known formulae from strength of materials, one models the problem as a panel floor lying on an elastic stratum. The obtained solutions are used to perform a parametric study, indicating the effects of panel roof, panel floor, coal seam, and underlying strata materials on the induced horizontal stress. No comparisons with experimental or numerical results are presented.
