As a generalization of a harmonic map between two Riemannian manifolds \(M\) and \(N\), the \(p\)-harmonic maps are the critical points and of the \(p\)-energy integral. A (2)-harmonic morphism is defined as a map \(\Phi:M\to N\) which pulls any harmonic local function on \(N\) back to harmonic function on \(M\) and it is characterized in [\textit{B. Fuglede}, Ann. Acad. Sci. Fenn., Math. 21, 31-50 (1996; Zbl 0847.53013) and \textit{T. Ishihara}, J. Math. Kyoto Univ. 19, 215-229 (1979; Zbl 0421.31006)] as a horizontally weakly conformal harmonic map. As a natural extension, the notion of \(p\)-harmonic morphism is defined and studied here and a Fuglede-Ishihara type characterization is obtained.
