Let \(K\) be a \(d\)-dimensional convex body, i.e., a compact convex subset of \(\mathbb{R}^d\) with non-empty interior. A collection \(K_1,\dots,K_m\) of translates of \(K\) is called a translational cloud for \(K\) if \(K\), \(K_1, \dots,K_m\) have mutually disjoint interiors and any ray radiating from any point of \(K\) intersects at least one of the bodies \(K_1,\dots,K_m\). Let \(C(K)\) denote the minimum cardinality of translational clouds for \(K\). In the present paper various bounds to \(C(K)\) are established when \(d\) is large, e.g., \(C(K)\leq 6^{d^2+ o(d^2)}\). Another result refers to centrally symmetric convex bodies. In the case of a \(d\)-dimensional sphere, reasonable tight lower and upper bounds are given. The method of proof generalizes an idea used in a paper of \textit{C. Zong} [Geom. Dedicata 67, No. 2, 117-128 (1997; Zbl 0892.52014)] and improves upon the upper bounds obtained there.
