If \(I\) is a monomial ideal of the polynomial ring \(S\) over the field \(k\), there is a standard free resolution of \(I\), called the Taylor resolution, which can be canonically constructed from the minimal system of monomial generators of \(I\). If \(I\) is not necessarily monomial, but just a graded ideal of \(S\), it is possible to factorize the generators in products of irreducibles, and construct the Taylor complex similarly to the Taylor resolution of a monomial ideal. In this paper, a necessary and sufficient condition for the Taylor complex to be acyclic is given, involving the local cohomology of the lattice \(D\) of lcm of a minimal system of generators for the graded ideal, and the depth of ideals generated by their irreducible factors. The main result of the paper is the construction, for any graded ideal \(I\) of \(S\) having a Taylor resolution, of a subcomplex of it that is a minimal resolution of \(S/I\). The construction is combinatorial, it is not canonical, and it involves computations of homology.
