    A model of transversely isotropic elastic strata is used to simulate the dynamic behaviour of soil layers located on a half-space. Instead of the half-space boundary, the authors use an artificial transmitting boundary to absorb the vibration energy. Using the thin layer element method, they obtain a formula for displacement at any soil layer interface under vertical or horizontal harmonic ring loads.
