\(S\) is a contact structure on a manifold \(M\) if it is a codimension one subbundle of the tangent bundle \(TM\) whose curvature form \(\Lambda^2S\to TM/S\) is a non-singular 2-form. A manifold \(M\) is called a contact Carnot-Carathéodory manifold if it is endowed with a contact structure \(S\) together with a Riemannian metric \(g\). Let \((V,S,g)\) and \((W,T,h)\) be contact Carnot-Carathéodory manifolds, where \(S\), \(T\) are the subbundles of the tangent bundles representing the contact structures and \(g\), \(h\) are the Carnot-Carathéodory metrics, where \(T\) is globally represented as \(\ker \beta\) for some 1-form \(\beta\) on \(W\) such that \(h\) and \(\omega=d\beta|_T\) together define a Hermitian structure on \(T\). If \(h\) and \(T\) are compatible, \(\dim(W)\geq 2\dim(V)+1\), and there is an injective homomorphism of tangent bundles \(TV\to TW\) mapping \(S\) into \(T\), and pulling back the symplectic form associated to \(T\) to a nonzero multiple of the symplectic form associated to \(S\), then there is a regular immersion \(f\colon V\to W\). In addition, if \(V\) is compact and \(W\) is the Heisenberg group, then \(f\) can be chosen strictly short. The regularity of a contact immersion \(f\colon (V,S)\to (W,T)\) means that at any point the intersection of the orthogonal complements of the subspace \(df(S)\) in \(T\) with respect to the Carnot-Carathéodory metric, and with respect to the symplectic form associated to the contact structure has codimension equal to twice the dimension of \(df(S)\). In the same way one defines regularity for injective homomorphisms of tangent bundles \(TV\to TW\). In this paper, the author shows that if \((V,S,g)\) is a compact contact Carnot-Carathéodory manifold, \(W\) is a Heisenberg group of \(\dim(W)\geq \dim(V)+3\), and there exists a regular homomorphism \(TV\to TW\) which pulls the symplectic form on \(W\) to the symplectic form on \(V\), then \(V\) admits a contact isometric \(C^1\)-immersion in \(W\).
