Let \(f\) be a locally univalent function in the unit disc and \(\alpha\in [0,1/2]\). The authors extend \(f\) to a holomorphic map from the unit ball in \(\mathbb{C}^n\) to \(\mathbb{C}^n\) by the formula \[ {\Phi}_{n,\alpha} (f)(z)=( f(z_1),{(f'(z_1)}^{\alpha}.z')) \] where for \(z=(z_1, z_2, \dots , z_n)\in \mathbb{C}^n\), \(z'=(z_2, z_3,\dots ,z_n)\). They prove many results showing that if \(f\) belongs to some of the classes of univalent starlike or convex functions then \({\Phi}_{n,\alpha} (f)\) belongs also to a suitable class in the unit ball in \(\mathbb{C}^n\). They also find the radius of convexity and starlikeness of \({\Phi}_{n,\alpha} (f)\).
