Informally, classes of algebras are called universally equivalent if each algebra in the first class can be obtained from an algebra in the other class by replacing all its operations by fixed terms of this algebra, and vice versa. First invariants of this equivalence for varieties were obtained by \textit{A. I. Mal'tsev} [Dokl. Akad. Nauk SSSR 120, 29-32 (1958; Zbl 0080.25203)]. Later, more observable invariants were suggested by \textit{D. A. Pigozzi} [Contemp. Math. 131, Pt. 3, 187-199 (1992; Zbl 0760.08006)]. In the article under review, the author proves that the actions of endomorphisms of a free algebra of rank \(\omega\) can serve as such invariants. In addition, he describes the varieties which are rationally equivalent to the variety of Boolean algebras.
