In several recent papers of the first author the critical mass for fission was discussed in connection with the theory of elastic bifurcation and Cantorian-fractal approach to quantum physics. Here using the familiar formulation of modern reactor theory, the same classical results for the eigenvalue critical mass of fast neutron fission are derived. The authors show how by using the Cantorian-fractal approach \({\mathcal C}^\infty\) simple formulas for estimating the eigenvalue can be obtained. Moreover, they give reasonably accurate results for reactions with spherical geometry and perfect reflectors.
