Consider the class of solutions \((x_n)\) to the second-order nonlinear difference equation \[ \Delta(r_n \Delta x_n)+ f(n,x_n)= 0,\quad n\in \{n_0,n_0+1, \dots\}, \] such that \(x_n\to\infty\) and \(r_n\Delta x_n\to 0\) if \(n\to \infty\). The authors obtain some necessary as well as some sufficient conditions in order that positive solutions belonging to the above class, exist.
