A unified view of classical summation kernels (Q1578455)

The author considers kernels of the form \[ k_n(t)= \sum^n_{k=-n} g_n\Biggl({k\over n}\Biggr) e^{ikt} \] and gives sufficient conditions on the functions \(g_n\) such that the family \(\{k_n\}\) should be a summation kernel. His results include several classical summation kernels and some new ones. He also presents some negative results.
