Let \(X\) be a locally compact space, and let \(\mathcal{H}\) be a nonlinear sheaf on \(X\). A nonlinear Bauer space \((X, \mathcal{H})\) is defined in a general way, along with related hyperharmonic and hypoharmonic functions. The paper is concerned with certain properties of such spaces, especially ellipticity, the Brelot convergence property, and the Harnack inequality in the form \[ \sup_K h\leq c_1 \inf_K h + c_2 \qquad \forall h\in \mathcal{H}^+(U), \] where \(U\) is a domain and \(K\) is a compact subset of \(U\). Examples are given in which \(c_2\) must be strictly positive, and some in which \(c_1\) can be zero. There are also examples in which \((X, \mathcal{H})\) has the Harnack inequality and the Brelot convergence property, but is not elliptic.
