The authors discuss laminar and fully developed (both hydrodynamically and thermally) forced convective flow through a microchannel. Analytical solutions for temperature distribution are obtained using one-equation and two-equation models for heat transfer. The authors study effects of Darcy number and thermal conductivity ratio on the heat transfer. Asymptotic behaviour of the relative temperature difference between the phases is examined by using the order-of-magnitude analysis. It is concluded that one-equation model can be applied to microchannel heat sinks only with very high porosity.
