The authors consider oriented bond or site percolation on \(Z^d_+\). In the case of bond percolation, every bond (edge) \(e\) is open with probability \(p\) and is closed otherwise independently of all other bonds. For an open bond \(e\) we set \(X(e)= 1\) and \(X(e)= 0\) otherwise. It is said that \(\rho\)-percolation occurs for some given \(\rho\in (0,1]\), if there exists an oriented infinite path \(v_0= 0\), \(v_1,v_2,\dots\), starting at the origin, such that \(\liminf_{n\to\infty} n^{-1} \sum^n_{i=1} X(e_i)\geq \rho\), where \(e_i\) is the edge that joins \(v_{i-1}\) and \(v_i\). \textit{M. V. Menshikov} and \textit{S. A. Zuev} [in: Probabilistic methods in discrete mathematics. Prog. Pure \& Appl. Discret. Math. 1, 337-347 (1993; Zbl 0819.60098)] showed that there exists a critical probability \(p_c\) (that also depends on \(d\), \(\rho\) and whether the bond or site percolation is considered) such that there is a.s. no \(\rho\)-percolation for \(p< p_c\) and that \(\rho\)-percolation occurs with a positive probability if \(p> p_c\). The authors show that the limit of \(d^{1/\rho}p_c\) equals \(D_1= ((1- \rho)/\rho e)^{(1- \rho)/\rho}\) for the bond percolation and to \(D_2= \theta^{1/\rho}/(e^\theta- 1)\) for the site percolation, where \(\theta\) is the unique solution of \(\theta e^\theta/(e^\theta- 1)= 1/\rho\). It turns out that for \(\rho< 1\), \(D_1< D_2\) and neither of these limits equals the analogous limit for the regular \(d\)-ary trees.
