Let \(H_5\) be the Klein quadric arising from the line set of a Pappian projective 3-space \(\Pi\). Let \({\mathcal B}\) be a collection of conics and points (improper conics) contained in \(H_5\). A set \({\mathcal B}\) of conics with at most two improper ones is called a flocklet if for each Latin plane \(\gamma\) there exists exactly one conic \(k \in {\mathcal B}\) with \(\gamma \cap k \not= \emptyset\). It is shown that each flocklet gives rise to a spread of \(\Pi\) with a so-called asymplecticly complemented regulization and hence also to a translation plane. This extends the Thas-Walker construction which started from flocks.
