It has been shown in [\textit{T. Klotz Milnor}, Contemp. Math. 64, 123-132 (1987; Zbl 0609.53004)] that an entire time-like minimal surface in the Minkowski 3-space \(E_1^3\) is conformally equivalent to \(E_1^2\). In the present paper the authors extend this result as follows. An immersion \(x\colon S\to E_1^3\) of a surface \(S\) in \(E_1^3\) can also be looked upon as an immersion \(\overline x\colon S\to E^3\) in the usual Euclidean space \(E^3\). We say that \(S\) is \(E^3\)-complete if it is complete in the metric induced by \(\overline x\). Let \(C^+(p)\) \((C^-(p))\) be the causal future (past) of \(p\) and let \(C(p)=C^+(p)\cup C^-(p)\). With this notation, the following theorem is proved. Theorem. Let \(x\colon S\to E_1^3\) be a time-like immersion of a simply-connected oriented surface \(S\). Assume that \(S\) is \(E^3\)-complete and that, for each \(p\in S\), \(\int_{C(p)} |H|dA_{\overline x} < \infty\). Here \(dA_{\overline x}\) is the area element in the metric induced by \(\overline x\) and \(H\) is the mean curvature of \(S\). Then \((S,x)\) is conformally equivalent to \(E_1^2\).
