In 1956 \textit{M. Shiffman} [Ann. Math. (2) 63, 77-90 (1956; Zbl 0070.16803)] proved that if \(A\subset\mathbb{R}^3\) is a compact minimal annulus bounded by two convex Jordan curves contained in two parallel planes \(P_0\) and \(P_1\), then any plane between \(P_0\) and \(P_1\) intersects \(A\) in a strictly convex Jordan curve. Y. Fang proved a corresponding result for non-compact minimal annulli contained in the slab between \(P_0\) and \(P_1\) and bounded by a strictly convex \(C^2\)-Jordan curve in \(P_0\) and a straight line in \(P_1\). In the present paper the authors use Perrons method to construct a minimal graph \(A\) with a flat end and bounded by two strictly convex Jordan curves in \(P_0\cup P_1\) such that Shiffman's theorem does not hold for \(A\), i.e., \(A\cap P\) is not convex for every plane \(P\) between \(P_0\) and \(P_1\).
