Quantum cosmology, though a difficult field of research, is quite interesting. Here the authors have studied a Bianchi type I anisotropic cosmological model with a scalar field. In accounting for anisotropy, the presence of either a negative potential barrier or a positive repelling well is especially included. In the first case, an above-barrier reflection of the wave function of the universe and in the second case, a bouncing off potential wall are taken. The further evolution of the universe represents exponential inflation with a rapid loss of anisotropy, approaching thus the standard cosmological scenario. Basic classical equations and quantum evolution of the universe are treated at length. The whole study has been reduced to considering just three basic problems. With 5 figures and 13 references, the work throws light on certain important aspects of cosmology.
