Certain sticky and non-sticky chaotic trajectories of a model 3D Hamiltonian system, describing three coupled oscillators, are numerically investigated. These trajectories exhibit chaotic behaviour, while bouncing between the vicinity of stable orbits, a phenomenon stemming from 'cantori'. To account for the changes in location, Effective Lyapunov Numbers (ELN) and the correlation dimension \(D^{(2)}\) of trajectory segments are computed with the help of a delay reconstruction scheme. It is observed, that relatively large increases in the ELN yield statistically significant increases in the \(D^{(2)}\). The authors conclude, that \(D^{(2)}\) can serve as a discrimination index for ``regions of stickiness and regions of unimpeded transport''.
