The author gives a characterization of spaces Baire isomorphic to the powers of the real line within \(AE(0)\)-spaces (i.e., absolute extensors for zero-dimensional spaces). The characterization is done using a universality property defined in terms of spaces of Baire mappings. As a corollary it is stated that an \(AE(0)\)-space of weight \(\omega_1\) is Baire-isomorphic to \(R^{\omega_1}\) if and only if it has no \(G_\delta\) points. Reviewer's remark: The spaces of Baire mappings are considered with a special topology. The definition of this topology contains a misprint -- the basic neighborhood defined in the beginning of Section 3 should be of course a subset of \(X^Y\) and not of \(Y^X\). Similarly, two lines later, \(Y^X_\tau\) should read as \(X^Y_\tau\).
