Let \((M,g,J)\) be an almost Hermitian manifold and denote by \(\Delta\) its Levi Civita connection. \((M,g,J)\) is called a nearly Kähler manifold if \((\nabla_X J)X=0\) for all vector fields \(X\). Further, let \(C\) denote the Weyl tensor of \((M,g)\). The study of conformal invariants leads the authors to the consideration of two special classes of nearly Kähler manifolds: the conformally flat (i.e., \(C=0)\) and the conformally para-Kähler (i.e., \(C_2(X, Y,Z)=\frac 12 (C(X,Y)Z- C(JX,JY)Z=0)\) nearly Kähler spaces. In this paper, the authors first derive a complete classification of the conformally para-Kähler nearly Kähler spaces and then they deduce from it in a completely different way the already known classification of the conformally flat ones [see also \textit{K. Takamatsu} and \textit{Y. Watanabe}, Tôhoku Math. J. (2) 24, 435--440 (1972; Zbl 0245.53045)].
