The author of the present study, an acquisitions editor within Academic Press, presents -- in a highly attractive personal remembrance -- the creation, during middle 1960s, of the new famous \textit{Journal of Combinatorial Theory}, as a commercial publication in the States. The challenge was ambitious, if considering the scarce tradition in the field of specially scientific journals and, on the other hand, the long tradition having been settled in Europe (for more than a century). The providential person for the initiation of such an ambitious scientific adventure was \textit{Gian-Carlo Rota}, supported by \textit{Frank Harary}, and \textit{W. T. Tutte} and \textit{Ron Mullin}. Considering the diversity of combinatorics, the journal was designed to content and attract both pure mathematicians and applied mathematicians (interested mainly in exploiting the power of combinatorics in physical, biological and social sciences). In time, The Journal of Combinatorial Theory came to be issued in two separate, distinct parts, A and B.
