Let \(\Gamma(n)\) be the set of permutations of \(n\) for which \(\pi(i) \geq i-1\). The authors give many examples of counting functions and polynomial generating functions that can be expressed as sums over \(\Gamma(n)\). These include exponential, rising factorial, Laguerre, Abel, inverse-Abel, and Mittag-Leffler polynomials.
