The authors have proved a conjecture of Barbasch and Vogan which says that the associated cycle of any irreducible admissible \((g,K)\)-module coincides with its wave front set via the \textit{Kostant} and \textit{Sekiguchi} correspondence [Ann. Math. (2) 151, 1071-1118 (2000)]. Their proof reduces to two geometric properties of nilpotent orbits which are proved in this paper. Along the way some other interesting geometric facts are also derived, which implies that Kronheimer's instanton flow is real analytic at infinity. Their tools are Ness' moment map [\textit{L. Ness}, Am. J. Math. 106, 1281-1329 (1984; Zbl 0604.14006)] and the proof of the Hodge-theoretic \(\text{SL}_2\)-orbit theorem [\textit{E. Cattani}, \textit{A. Kaplan} and \textit{W. Schmid}, Ann. Math. (2) 123, 457-535 (1986; Zbl 0617.14005); \textit{W. Schmid} and \textit{K. Vilonen}, Invent. Math. 124, 451-502 (1996; Zbl 0851.32011)].
