    The following quadratic operator pencil is considered \[ A(\lambda)u=a(x,D)u-i\lambda b_0u-\lambda^2u, \quad Bu=\left.\partial_{\nu}u-\sigma u\right|_{\partial M}=0 \] on a differentiable compact connected manifold \(M\) with \(\dim M=m\geq 1\) and non-empty boundary \(\partial M\). Here \(a(x,D)\) is a uniformly elliptic symbol. Let \(R_{\lambda}\) be the resolvent defined in the domain \(H^2_{\sigma}(M) =\{u\in H^2(M): \;Bu=0\}\). Denote by \(R_{\lambda}(x,y)\) the Schwartz kernel of \(R(\lambda)\). The authors deal with the Gelfand inverse problem: Let \(\partial M\) and \(R_{\lambda}(x,y)\) for \(\lambda\in C\) and \(x,y\in \partial M\) be given. Do these data determine \((M, a(x,D), b_0, \sigma)\) uniquely?
