The authors study travelling wave solutions to the generalized Kadomtsev-Petviashvili (KP) equation \[ (u_t + u_{\xi\xi\xi}+f(u)_\xi)_\xi + \epsilon u_{yy}=0. \] These are KP-I equations if \(\varepsilon=-1,\) and KP-II equations if \(\varepsilon=+1.\) The original KP-equations correspond to the case \(f(u)=\frac{1}{2}u^2,\) form a completely integrable Hamiltonian system, and were studied extensively by means of algebro-geometrical methods. This paper is a direct continuation of [Math. Methods Appl. Sci. 22, No.~9, 733-752 (1999; Zbl 0938.35156)]. The authors study the existence of ground-traveling waves, both periodic and solitary, and the limit behavior of periodic waves, as the period goes to infinity.
