This is an interesting and well written paper which shows in a rigorous and particularly simple way that there is a one to one correspondence between causal anti-deSitter covariant quantum field theories on anti-deSitter space and causal conformally covariant quantum field theories on its boundary. The existence of such a correspondence was recently proposed by \textit{J. Maldacena} in [Adv. Theor. Math. Phys. 2, 231-252 (1998; Zbl 0914.53047)]. The discussion is carried out in the framework of algebraic quantum field theory i.e. the theories on the (\(1+s\))-dimensional AdS space time \(\text{ AdS}_{1,s}\) and on the boundary \(\text{ CM}_{1,s-1}\) are described in terms of ``causal nets'' of observable algebras. The latter are maps \(X \mapsto B(X)\) assigning to appropriate regions \(X\) of \(\text{ AdS}_{1,s}\) respectively \(\text{ CM}_{1,s-1}\) operator algebras \(B(X)\) such that \(B(X)\) contains observables which are localized in \(X\). The crucial point on which the results of the paper are based is the observation that there is a canonical bijection \(\alpha\) between between wedge-like regions \(W \subset \text{ AdS}_{1,s}\) and double-cones \(\alpha(W) \subset \text{ CM}_{1,s-1}\) which associates to each \(W\) its intersection \(\alpha(W)\) with the boundary. Given this lemma the main algebraic result states that bulk observables localized in wedge regions are identified with boundary observables localized in double cones. To establish the map \(\alpha\) the fact is used that the anti-deSitter group \(\text{ SO}_0(2,s)\) operates on \(\text{ AdS}_{1,s}\) as the isometry group and as the conformal group on \(\text{ CM}_{1,s-1}\). Hence it is sufficient to identify one suitable region on \(\text{ AdS}_{1,s}\) with one region in the boundary, and then to let \(\text{ SO}_0(2,s)\) act to provide the remaining identification. The correspondence constructed this way takes vacuum states into vacuum states and positive energy representations into positive energy representations.
