Rational interpolation through the optimal attachment of poles to the interpolating polynomial (Q1587014)

For the case when the function to be interpolated is known everywhere, the authors suggest an approximation method. It consists in building a rational interpolant in the barycentric form and optimizing the placement of the poles in such a way as to minimize a given norm of the error. Numerical experiments and two applications of the method are presented.
