Approaches for two-parameter Hankel transforms are derived, which arise, for example, in covariance matrix computations for performance modeling and evaluation of adaptive optics systems. Such fast transforms are desirable in cases the parameter space for performance evaluation and optimization is large. Also applications in real-time control algorithms for adaptive optics systems to be realized in the future are possible. Analytical properties of the Hankel transform are highly used and result in structured matrix representation of the approximate transforms. The approximations can be constructed in a way to satisfy any given pre-specified accuracy requirement. By using the matrix structures a significantly reduced computation cost can be achieved.
