From template analysis to generating partitions. II: Characterization of the symbolic encodings (Q1587669)

The method of part I of the paper (see Zbl 0978.37007 above) encoding knot theoretic information of a template of unstable periodic orbits of a 3-dimensional flow into symbolic dynamics of partitions, is put to further tests in the present part II. This refers to the choice of initial partition, partitions of more than two symbols, comparison with methods based on homoclinic tangencies, the property of partitions of being generating, estimates of metric entropy and compact parametrization of partitions.
