Double multipliers on topological algebras (Q1587823)

The authors investigate some topological properties of the double multiplier algebra \(M_d(A)\) on a topological algebra \(A\). It is shown that under some additional hypotheses on \(A\), such as completeness and metrizability, \(M_d(A)\) is complete in the uniform \((u)\) and strong \((s)\) operator topology, \(A\) is a uniform closed two-sided ideal and strong dense in \(M_d(A)\). Furthermore, the bounded sets in \(M_d(A)\) for the uniform and strong topologies coincide and each continuous onto homomorphism \(\Phi: A\to B\) has a unique extension \(\widetilde \Phi: (M_d(A), s)\to (M_d(B),s)\).
