The authors study the existence of a nonnegative weak solution \(u\) of the equation \(\bigtriangleup u+u^p=0\) in \(\Omega,\) with the boundary condition \(u=0\) on \(\partial \Omega,\) having a given closed set \(S\) as its singular set. It is proved that, when \(p\) satisfies two inequalities with respect to the dimension of the space and \(S\) is a closed subset of \(\Omega,\) then there exist an infinity of nonnegative weak solutions with \(S\) as their singular set. First, a solution of the above problem, with one isolated singular point is constructed. Then, such a solution is used to obtain approximate solutions for the case with finite isolated singular points. Finally, the same problem for a more general equation is studied.
