Let \(G\) be a real connected finite dimensional Lie group and \({\mathcal G}\) be its Lie algebra. The adjoint action defines a fibration of the dual space \({\mathcal G}^*\) into even dimensional orbits -- the \(K\)-orbits. In this paper, after giving a detailed description of \(K\)-orbits and subsequently, their spectral types and local coordinates, I.V.Shirokov proves that there exists a normal polarization associated with the linear functional \(\lambda\in{\mathcal G}^*\) if and only if there exist local canonical Darboux coordinates \((p,q)\) on the \(K\)-orbit \({\mathcal O}_\lambda\) to which the transition is linear in \(p\). Moreover, as viewing the transition to local canonical Darboux coordinates as symbols of differential operators, he introduces the notion of the quantization of the \(K\)-orbit \({\mathcal O}_\lambda\), which assigns the spectral type of the \(K\)-orbit to the so-called \(\lambda\)-representation of the Lie algebra. He expresses the Casimir operators by using the quantization and then obtains the spectra via linear algebraic methods starting with the structure constants and the information on the compactness of certain subgroups.
