By using the max-algebra description of timed event graphs, an adaptive control scheme is developed for coping with mismatches that occur between the dynamics of the real system and its model. The design procedure is formulated as an optimal tracking problem under an equality constraint, being inspired from the classical principles of indirect adaptive control. The approach relies on system identification and inversion, resulting in an algorithm with recursive structure. An example illustrates the validity of the synthesis methodology. A number of problems remain still open for future researches with regard to the estimation of the models for discrete event systems.
