Generalizing a procedure of \textit{H. L. Bentley} and \textit{S. A. Naimpally} [General Topology Appl. 4, 29-41 (1974; Zbl 0277.54021)], the author finds convenient large categories WOWS of approach spaces and kWOWS of compact approach T\(_1\)-spaces such that kWOWS is an epireflective subcategory of WOWS (the corresponding compactifications are of Wallman type).
