Some families of generating functions associated with the Stirling numbers of the second kind (Q1593772)

Here the author first derives a general result on generating functions associated with the Stirling numbers \(S(n,k)\) of the second kind. The main result contained in Theorem 1 is then applied to obtain generating functions for a considerably large variety of special functions and polynomials. The relevant connections of some of these families of generating functions with various known results are indicated and multivariate extensions of the main result are also investigated.
