The authors investigate an initial-boundary value problem for the \(2\)-dimensional ion-sound wave equation of the form \(\frac{\partial^2}{\partial t^2}(\Delta_2u-u)+\Delta_2u = 0\) with initial conditions \(u(x,0)=u_t(x,0)=0\) and the boundary conditions \(u(x,t)|_{x\in \Gamma^+}=f^+(s,t)\), \(u(x,t)|_{x\in \Gamma^-}=f^-(s,t) \) on the opposite sides of the Lyapunov-type simple curve \(\Gamma\) parametrized in a natural way; i.e., the parameter is the arc length \(s.\) The matching conditions \(f^+(0,t)=f^-(0,t)\), \(f^+(l,t)=f^-(l,t) \) are assumed to be fulfilled. A solution of the problem can be expressed as the sum of the dynamic single-layer and the angular dynamic potentials, i.e., \(u(x,t)=V[\mu](x,t)+ T[\nu](x,t).\) The existence and uniqueness results are introduced without proofs.
