The reviewed paper presents a construction of an endomorphism of the plane that has a two-dimensional attractor. That is not a surprising result. The problem is that the constructed attractor is not strange as called by the author. In fact the presented endomorphism is a piecewise linear mapping of hyperbolic type. It often happens that scientists from the former Soviet Union use different notations as commonly used in the West. So the attractor the author speaks about is not strange but chaotic and the presented proof is in a sense shorthand.
