The author studies the generalized Besov spaces \(B^a_{p,q} ({\mathbb{R}}^n)\), generated by a hypoelliptic pseudodifferential operator \(a(x,D).\) He introduces a new equivalent norm, which allows to construct retraction and coretraction operators, not depending on \(a\). In particular, the following interpolation formula is proven: \((B^{a_0}_{p_0} , B^{a_1}_{p_1})_{\theta, p} =[B^{a_0}_{p_0}, B^{a_1}_{p_1}]_\theta =B^{a_\theta}_{p}, \frac{1}{p}= \frac{1-\theta}{p_0} +\frac{\theta}{p_1}, a_\theta (x,\xi)={\overline a}_0 (x, \xi)^{1-\theta} {\overline a}_1 (x,\xi)^\theta,\) where \({\overline a}_j>0\) and \({\overline a}_j\) is equivalent to \(a_j\), \((j=0,1).\)
