Consider a reductive algebraic group \(G\) defined over a field \(F\) and \(n = \dim G\). Let \(Q\) and \(P\) be parabolic subgroups of \(G\) defined over \(F\) with unipotent radicals \(N_Q\) and \(N_F\). Let \(M_X\) \((X = Q, P)\) be the unique Levi component of \(X\) containing \(M_o\) as a Levi component of the minimal parabolic subgroup \(P_o\) of \(G\). Let us further define the split component of the center \(M_X\) by \(A_X\) and its Lie algebra by \(a_X\). Then \(A^2(X)\) is the space of square integrable meromorphic forms on \(N_X(A)M_X(F)A_X(R)^o \setminus G(A)\), where \(A\) is the ring of adèles of \(F\) and \(G(A)\) the adèlized group. If \(W(a_P,a_Q)\) is the set of all linear isomorphisms from \(A_P\) to \(A_Q\) having the form \(\text{Ad}(g)\) where \(g \in G(F)\). The theory of Eisenstein series associates to each \(s \in W(a_P,a_Q)\) an intertwining operator \(M_{Q \mid P} (s,\lambda): A^2(P) \to A(Q), \lambda \in a_{P,C}^\star\). It is particularly proved that each matrix coefficient of \(M_{Q \mid P} (s,\lambda)\) is a meromorphic function of order \(\leq n + 1\). This result is further used to study the rank one intertwining operators and the distribution of their poles.
