In the fundamental papers by \textit{A. D. Bruno} [Analytical form of differential equations, Trans. Moscow Math. Soc. 25 (1971), 131--288 (1973) and Local methods in nonlinear differential equations (Berlin etc.: Springer-Verlag) (1989; Zbl 0674.34002)], necessary and closely related sufficient conditions for the convergence of formal transformations of analytic systems to a resonant normal form were found. These conditions impose relatively strong restrictions on the structure of a normal form. In the present paper, these restrictions are shown to be fulfilled under the assumption that a given vector field possesses infinitesimal symmetries with certain properties. In terms of these symmetries, conditions sufficient for the convergence of formal normalizing transformations are presented. Results obtained in the two-dimensional case have the most completed character. As an application of the main results of the paper, bifurcations of systems with resonances are considered.
