Isoperimetric inequalities on compact manifolds (Q1597488)

This is a very nice paper where the author investigates the \(p = 1\) part of the \(AB\)-program concerning sharp Sobolev inequalities. The author proves that the sharp Sobolev inequality when \(p = 1\) is true on any smooth compact Riemannian manifold, and discusses the existence of extremal functions for this inequality. When \(p = 1\), such questions are related to the isoperimetric inequality. Improvements of this paper were later on obtained by the author [\textit{O. Druet}, Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 130, No. 8, 2351--2361 (2002; Zbl 1067.53026)].
