Let \(M\) be a hyperbolic 3-manifold and \({\mathcal F}\) a taut foliation and \(\widetilde M\) the universal cover of \(M\). Then \(\widetilde M= \mathbb{H}^3\) and there is a natural ideal boundary \(S^2_\infty\). For any metric on \(M\), the leaves \(\lambda\) of \(\widetilde{\mathcal F}\) are uniformly quasi-isometric to \(\mathbb{H}^2\); there is a well-defined circle at infinity, \(S^1_\infty (\lambda) \). Question: Does the inclusion \(i:\lambda\to \widetilde M=\mathbb{H}^3\) extend continuously to a map \(i_\partial:S^1_\infty (\lambda)\to S^2_\infty (\mathbb{H}^3)\)? The aim of this paper is to show that \({\mathcal F}\) has the continuous extension property for leaves in almost every direction. The author proves the following theorem: With notation as above, for every leaf \(\lambda\) of \(\widetilde {\mathcal F}\), for almost all geodesic rays \(r\subset\lambda\), the ray \(r\subset \mathbb{H}^3\) converges to a definite point in \(S^2_\infty\), and defines a measurable map \(i_\partial:S^1 (\lambda)\to S^2_\infty (\mathbb{H}^3)\). Finally, some remarks on the proof are considered: Hyperbolic 3-space grows in volume like \(O(e^{2t})=\) the area of a sphere of radius \(t\) in \(\mathbb{H}^3\).
