The author studies the Bessel function on a finite field and proves orthogonality relation and addition formulas. Those Bessel functions are closely related to some functions introduced in [\textit{I. I. Piatetski-Shapiro}, Contemp. Math. 16, 1-71 (1983; Zbl 0513.20026)].
