    The authors deal with the impulsive initial value problem with finite delay \[ y''\in F(t,y_t),\quad t \in [0,T], \quad t \neq t_k, \quad k=1,\dots,m, \] \[ \Delta y|_{t=t_k} = I_k(y(t_k^-)) \quad \Delta y'|_{t=t_k} = \overline I_k(y(t_k^-)), \quad k=1,\dots,m, \] with the initial conditions \(y'(0)=y_0\), \(y(t)=\varphi(t)\), \(t\in [-r,0]\). The multifunction \(F:[0,T]\times C([-r,0],E) \to 2^E\) is \(L^1\)-Carathéodory and has compact convex values; \(E\) is a Banach space; \(0=t_0<t_1<\cdots<t_m<t_{m+1}=T\); the function \(y_t\in C([-r,0],E)\) defined by \(y_t(\theta)= y(t+\theta)\) provides the finite delay. Moreover, \(I_k, \overline I_k\) are bounded continuous operators; \(\Delta y|_{t=t_k}=y(t_k^+)- y(t_k^-)\), \(\Delta y'|_{t=t_k}=y'(t_k^+)- y'(t_k^-)\) where \(y(t_k^-),y(t_k^+), y'(t_k^-),y'(t_k^+)\) represent the left and the right limits of \(y(t)\) and \(y'(t)\), respectively, at \(t=t_k\). By applying a fixed-point theorem on condensing upper semicontinuous multifunctions, they obtain the existence of global solutions on the interval \([-r,T]\) for the impulsive initial value problem.
